A Day
at
Heritage Academy

Imagine your child immersed in hands-on learning units, fully integrated into the heart of a working farm. They work on projects with meaning NOT boring worksheets and busywork.

The day begins with our gentle Morning Time for all ages, giving students a calm start to their day. All students gather to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, pray, and affirm our school creed. We then explore the virtue of the week and set our goals for the day.

From there, we move into the different portions of our day, from active learning and times of quiet reflection and mindfulness, allowing students to process the world around them in their unique ways. Students transition into their learning groups for academics, have a healthy home-packed snack, and experience hands-on learning.

 

Next, we join together again as a group to complete farm chores, some animal husbandry, and to spend time with the animals, and then head back inside to clean up and have a leisurely lunch. Then we have another round or two of project-based learning, then it's time to clean up and head for home.

 

Sprinkle in lots of laughter, read-alouds, handicrafts, plus occasional bursts of impromptu singing, and you have a typical day at Heritage Academy.
